Evensong Coffee House organizes family concert to benefit CHAMP Homes on June 8th

Hyannis, Mass., May 9, 2008 — Evensong Coffee House will host a very special family concert, featuring Rani Arbo and daisy mayhem, to benefit CHAMP Homes. The event will be held on Sunday June 8th, from 2 to 4 pm at the South Congregational Church, 565 Main Street, Centerville.This family concert is underwritten by Common Cents Bookkeeping and several other local sponsors. Light refreshments will be served. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Rani Arbo and daisy mayhem are a “gleeful string band” that always has a good time. The Boston Globe described their music as "neo old-timey with cosmopolitan splashes of contemporary pop and jazz." For more information about the band: www.raniarbo.com

Tickets are available at the South Congregational Church Office on Monday and Wednesday through Friday from 9:00-2:00. Please come in and pay in person. It is not possible to pay over the phone or hold tickets. For more information about the event: 508-775-8332 (church) or 508-771-0885.

CHAMP Homes presents six area residents and organizations with theThird Annual Fragile Earth Awards during Award Breakfast on June14th, 2008

Hyannis, Mass, May 10, 2008 - Paul Hebert, President/Executive Director, of CHAMP Homes will present the Fragile Earth Awards for 2008 during a special Award Breakfast on June 14th, 2008 at the Osterville Methodist Church from 9a.m. to 12 noon.

This is the third year CHAMP Homes, a program of Housing For All Corporation, is honoring local Cape Cod residents for their efforts to protect our environment.

The following recipients will be recognized during the Breakfast event:

  • Conrad Geyser of Cotuit Solar, leadership in renewable energy.

  • Jeff Bremner, Foreman, Chatham Transfer Station, Recycling.

  • Senator Rob O’Leary, for his leadership in recycling, energy and environment.

  • Linda Doll and Neil Tanger, Christian Vegetarian Association.

  • Barbara Garrett Conrad and Judy Fitzpatrick of Unity Church of the Light.

Recycling Program previous recipients included:
Cape Cod Community College, Martha Powers, RobAngell, Rona Robinson, Theresa Brosnan, Kallie Hannon, Bernard Beveridge,Glenn Santos, Robert Spongberg, and Brenda Anderson.

Up Coming Meetings

Board of Directors meet every other month at 4:45 PM for quick sandwich and social.  Meetings start at 5 PM until 6:30 PM on  a Wednesday: 4/25, 6/27, 8/29 Annual Cook Out, 10/24 with December not scheduled at this time. 

Breakfast at Persy's hosted by Chair Person Garrett Douglas on 1st Tuesday of every month at 7:15 for informal discussion: will resume on Tuesday October 2, 2007   Thanks, Garrett

* The April Breakfast will be take place on Wednesday April 2nd.

Board of directors Tuesday evening cookouts will replace Breakfasts at Percy’s during the Summer months. Subject to weather, the cookouts will be at 5:30 pm beginning August 14th with an additional cookout on Wednesday August 29. All visitors are welcome to attend.


WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP US WITH RE-PACKING GLASS BOTTLES, ALUMINUM CANS AND PLASTIC BOTTLE.  WE NEED VAN DRIVERS AND RE-PACKERS AT OUR SITE AT CHAMP HOMES AND AT THE YARMOUTH TRANSFER STATION.  THE WORK HAS ITS CHALLENGES BUT IT REALLY DOES HELP EVERYONE AND IS GOOD FOR THE EARTH.
